ESPACE TEMPORAIRE completes its program for 2008–9 with its third thematic event: UNIFORME, which takes place from the 1. – 3. October 2009. Picking up on the main parameters of the two preceding events, UNIFORME proposes an unusual and experimental view on the complex theme of the uniform. UNIFORME interrogates aspects of tradition, discipline, pride, equality and dominant uniformity. Beyond the conventions of contemporary art, this ephemeral and free event hopes to create encounters between art, artists and an expanded public.
The program of the event is the product of fruitful encounters, which have generated a desire for collaboration. At the early beginnings of the project, meetings with Tilo Steireif (artist and curator) and Federica Martini (Art Historian) led us to Milan, where we met SERPICA NARO, a collective of creatives in the fashion and communication context created in 2005 during the “Settimana della Moda”. Various artists (stylists, artists, musicians, dancers, and performers), convened around SERPICA NARO, creating transdisciplinary resonances and frictions.
UNIFORME happens in three different places. The exhibition part is based in AGENT DOUBLE, the THÉÂTRE DU GRÜTLI and its space WHITE BOX hosts the CONFERENCE and the WORKSHOP MULTIFORMA. For the FASHION SHOW-PERFORMANCE AND PARTY, UNIFORME has relocated its Headquarters to the industrial zone of Carouge.
