Hassan Khan
For tonight’s second evening in the region Khan will perform in the cultural art space Circuit from Lausanne
El Wahda El Kabeera (The Big One) (40 minutes)
Khan’s latest set is based upon the juxtaposition of original heavy hardcore synth-based experimental shaabi work-outs with delicately wrought tonal compositions. All live instruments were generated in a series of late-night recording sessions with shaabi musicians and arrangers, in a music studio way past its prime but with an excellent sound engineer on the mixing board.
Hassan Khan is an artist, musician and writer who lives and works in Cairo, Egypt. Khan has been performing live since the early 90s being one of the pioneers of the Cairo underground scene. For the past few years he has been touring internationally performing solo concerts in Europe, Asia, South America as well as the Middle East. His album tabla dubb is available on the 100copies label. He has had solo exhibitions all over the world, and participated in countless international group shows and biennales. Hassan Khan is also published widely in both Arabic and English.
